It was great to work with the team at Topic Interiors on the refurbishment of 5 floors plus the Lobby and EOT at 459 Lt Collins St. From design to completion, this project was completed on a tight time frame. Our ability to manufacture locally was a critical factor in achieving this. We were also able to leverage of strong relationships with overseas suppliers to meet the manufacturing deadlines, and we are always creative logistically, so were able to land the right products in time.
This fit out has a fairly low ceiling height, so the design team decided to expose much of the ceiling to create a felling of more space. We used our Australian Made GEO PS5075N Suspended profile over the work stations to put the light exactly where it was needed.
Throughout the circulation, and breakout spaces, we used our GEO P60D. This product is very effective in open ceiling areas due to it’s ability to evenly illuminate the ceiling above, as well as the space below. The creates a sense of height in what is actually a low space, and also highlights any feature colors that have been used on the ceiling.
In the boardroom and meeting rooms, we used the GEO PS5075 over the boardroom tables. Where there was a plaster ceiling, we used our DL170 Low Glare recessed downlight. This minimalistic fitting has a nice and wide distribution to give an even illumination, while remaining low glare due to the deep baffle.
Where the boardroom has no ceiling, we have used the PD228 Suspended Downlight
Our PD228, DL228 and TL228 fittings all use the same light engine and are the same dimensions. All that changes is the mounting method. This gives an excellent uniformity between spaces where these different installation methods are used. In the kitchen / breakout area, We have used suspended track and track spots. This is often a good option as it minimizes the amount of cabling and conduit work for the electrician, leading to less visual disruption on the feature painted exposed ceiling.
The splash back and shelves have been illuminated using our GEO S1708 profile. At only 8mm deep, this profile can be recessed into a 16mm shelf. The COB strip we use in this shallow profile has 600 LEDs per meter, giving a perfectly even light, even in the shallow profile.
Where a ceiling grid has been installed, we have used our ELIO Led Troffer. In this case, we have used a return air frame, and the ULB Louvered option. We also stock this fitting as a solid panel, and with the LED insert with a prismatic diffuser.
This is one of 5 floors. We look forward to introducing you to the rest of the building.
